Around 160 youngsters from 13 Ipswich primary schools took part in a seven-a-side football competition in Suffolk, with St Pancras emerging victorious.
Teams went toe to toe at an event held in Pinewood that was organised by BTEC level three sports learners from Suffolk One sixth form centre.
The occasion was aimed at giving students event experience and building closer links with local schools according to sports teacher, Mel Wakefield, who said: “The students organised this as part of their course. It gave them real skills that they will be able to take forward into their coaching careers and I was delighted by the work that they put into this to ensure it was a success.
“The feedback that we had from the young students who took part and the teachers who came along gave us great encouragement.
“This Suffolk Soccer Sevens helps us establish ourselves in the community. This was the second event of its kind and we were delighted with the commitment of the students who organised this occasion.”
Student, Scott Mckay, 16, from Ipswich, said: “Most of the organisers involved want to go into sports coaching so this has been a great experience.”
