So it's non-league. What do you do?

WHAT do you do when you get beaten 6-1 and 5-1 in consecutive weeks was the question I was asked by the local press this week?

If you are in the Premiership you go out and spend a few million on new players, if you are in the Championship you get the sack but if you are at Cornard United you paint the dressing rooms, run a disco until 2am and spend all day Sunday looking for another box of soldiers!

Or free transfer players that can't get a game anywhere else and try and mould them into a team to get the odd win to keep you away from the bottom of the table. Then if you don't enjoy that you pack it all in (perish the thought, 30 years of DIY waiting at home).

Oh to be a Premiership manager spending Monday morning sorting through videos tapes of players who fancy a move to your club if you can bung them a pile of someone else's money.

Last Saturday's trip to Ely was bad enough, although we eventfully lost 6-1 at least we held out to half time on level terms but at Gorleston this week we only managed to hold out for five minutes before conceding a goal and the game was over as a contest by the 20-minute mark.

The only excuse we could come up with this week was that we were without our injured hot shot Craig Cutts, but he only scores one or two every time he plays so that would have still left us three goals short of Gorleston, this time last season we won 3-0 up there and Craig scored all three.

Never mind, football has a habit of surprising you, this time last year we were in an identical situation when we suddenly turned it round in October with six straight wins. I can't see it happening!
