There are plenty of twists and turns left in the Ryman North title race, according to Sudbury forward Craig Parker.

The Yellows head to Thamesmead today eight points clear at the top of the table following a run of just one defeat in 14 games, which came last Saturday when they crashed 4-0 at home to third-placed Thurrock.

Jamie Godbold’s side got back to winning ways at the earliest opportunity with a 4-0 win over Tilbury on Tuesday night and, with Thurrock dropping points against Harlow, Parker believes there is a still plenty action to come between now and the end of the season.

“We’d been playing well going into the game against Thurrock but we weren’t happy with how we played in that one because we didn’t do ourselves justice,” he said.

“It was really important we bounced straight back and we showed really good character to do that against a good side, so we’re looking to carry that on now.

“I think (looking at the table and other results) is for the fans and supporters to do, rather than us, but of course we’re interested in the other results.

“There’s a long way to go and there will certainly be more twists and turns between now and the end of the season, with teams winning games and dropping points.

“Hopefully we’ll drop the least and still be there at the end of the season.”

Sudbury were 2-0 winners when they hosted Thamesmead earlier in the season, with Parker hopeful of a repeat performance against the side sitting 10th in the table.

“It’s always a tough game when you go down and play Thamesmead and we’re expecting the same again,” he said.

“We beat them earlier in the season and we’ll be going for the same again.”

Parker and Jordan Blackwell are looking to shrug off slight knocks in order to feature in today’s game, but Luke Callander is absent due to work commitments.
