They say that good things come in threes – and Brendon Heath is hoping that proves to be the case.
Heath, who was recently voted as Suffolk FA Under-18 Player of the Season, scored his first senior goal for Needham Market on Monday.
Now he is hoping to cap his season off with a winner’s medal in Saturday’s FA County Youth Cup final against Lancashire FA at Portman Road.
Heath said of winning the Player of the Season award: “I was not expecting it. I spoke to a few of the Suffolk players about who might win it.
“I was buzzing when I was told – it didn’t seem real and I felt so happy about it.”
His first senior goal arrived in Needham’s 2-1 loss at Soham Town Rangers – just 24 hours before he visited Ipswich Town’s ground along with his Suffolk team mates.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who lives at Rendlesham near Woodbridge, said: “It doesn’t get much better than this.
“This is probably the best season I have had so far, especially with everything that has happened recently coming at the end of it.
“If you had said to me at the beginning of the season that I would be playing at Portman Road with all the best players in the county I would not have believed it, but it is great to be here.
“I am sure the boys will all stick together and see it through to the end and get the win.”
Saturday’s final kicks-off at 2pm and admission for adults will be £5 and for under-16s £1.
The turnstiles and hospitality suites will open at 12.30pm.
