EAST Anglian Cup holders Leiston have relinquished their hold of the cup after just 12 months.

Despite not having played in this year's competition, the Suffolk side have postponed their proposed quarter-final tie at Halstead Town tonight due to a severe backlog of fixtures and a growing injury list.

With eight League games and a League Cup Final to play in the next 25 days, the management team decided that the best option was to concede the tie.

Leiston had received a bye to the quarter-finals after second round opponents Thetford also conceded the tie. It is not known who Halstead Town will now face in the semi-finals.
