KINGSLEY Healthcare SIL Senior Division East Bergholt have appointed Kevin Foskett and Frank Thompson as their new joint managers.

They have taken over from Nathan Burrell, who held the post for a short time in the summer after replacing Karl Vernau.

Bergholt chairman Tony Watkins said: “Kevin and Frank have plenty of managerial experience in Essex and after two fairly indifferent seasons I am looking for our results to improve.

“We have under performed with a squad not short of talent but paying the price for a lack of experience and lack of nous at times. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully in six months' time will be looking at us in a high position in the table.”

Watkins said that Burrell had second thoughts after being appointed, and he commented on speculation that former player manager Ian Gedny was on course to return to Gandish Road.

“If Ian had wanted to come back I don't think there would have been any resistance to him being appointed player-manager again,” said Watkins.

“But he wants to stay in the mix at Debenham, who are about to play in the Premier Division of the Ridgeons League for the first time. I wish him well and will be going over to watch some of their games.”

Burrell insists that being a former manager and player at Capel Plough led to his decision to step down within days of being appointed. “I received several text messages and voice mails from so-called Bergholt players that were not nice for myself or my family,” he said.
