THE Silver Ski Rockets return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Glasgow at Rye House.

The Tigers have been one of the 'nearly men' of the campaign so far. They finished third in their Premier Trophy group, just two points off a semi-final place following a 46-44 home defeat against arch-rivals Edinburgh in their final match.

Glasgow also came closer-than-close to progress in the Knock-Out Cup. The Scottish outfit held Somerset to a 46-44 score-line at the Oak Tree Arena and then, after the return was abandoned at heat eight with the Tigers comfortably poised at 28-14, could only win the re-run 45-44 to exit the competition by a single race point.

Glasgow's league campaign has so far produced home wins against Rye (48-42) and Newport (66-26), and a home defeat against title-chasing Workington (41-49).

They have also been competitive in away fixtures at both Redcar (41-49) and Newport (40-50).

Heading the Tigers' charge in what is set to be his final appearance at Hoddesdon is speedway's original 'Red Hot Chilli Pepper', otherwise known as the extrovert 'Firestarter' Shane Parker.

The Aussie will be joined by three-time British finalist James Grieves, who has won league titles with both Glasgow and Elite League side Wolverhampton. Also riding will be 2001 Australian under-21 champion Rusty Harrison, who has returned from retirement to hook up again with the Tigers.

The Scottish side unfortunately have both Ross Brady and Josh Grajczonek sidelined through injury and, barring any late new signings, is expected to operate rider-replacement for the former and call on a guest for the latter.

The team is rounded off by second year Ashfield man Mitchell Davey and recent signing Lee Dicken, who surged to a monster paid-18 in last week's home romp against Newport.

The action starts at 2pm.
