PETERBOROUGH Panthers travel to Swindon on Thursday for the first of two away matches in successive days.

The Robins are one of the better Elite League sides on current form and Panthers supporters will need no reminding that Blunsdon is the only venue in the Elite League that Peterborough have yet to win at, although they have run the Robins close a few times.

Peterborough went down by 13 points in the A fixture and it goes without saying that it will require quite an effort from everyone to enable the Panthers to leave the Abbey stadium on Thursday with any points, something which no one to date has achieved this year.

Matej Zagar remains in the team after being brought in temporarily to cover for the injured Troy Batchelor and he is proving to be a shrewd signing and a potent spearhead with the captain Leigh Adams.

The Robins also possess a solid backbone in Simon Stead, Jurica Pavlic and Travis McGowan, while their doubling up reserves Ryan Fisher and Cory Gathercole are also flying.

Swindon have recently also signed Paul Hurry to replace the unsettled Krzysztof Stojanowski and the Robins are currently vying for the leagues top spot with Wolverhampton.

Panthers captain Niels Kristian Iversen and Swindon loanee Mads Korneliussen both scored 12 points in the A fixture in April and more of the same would be very welcome.

Kenneth Bjerre, Ales Dryml and Kenneth Hansen all had poor nights in that fixture and it would be a major surprise if they were to do the same again, especially with Hansen now currently in the form of his life.

Claus Vissing and Henning Bager were not in the side for the A fixture and this will be the first visit of the year for both of them.

Vissing said: “Last season we got some good settings and I enjoy riding at Swindon, it's a bit like Peterborough but the turns are tighter, Swindon are a good side and its obviously going to be hard, but I enjoy riding the track and I am really looking forward to it, its certainly one of my better tracks.”

Team manager Wayne Swales said: “Swindon is a bogey track for us but having said that we haven't got anybody who cannot go well there. Obviously we would like to go there and win and you have to go with that confidence, but if the team put in the effort and commitment we do at home, we can definitely come away with something.”

Promoter Mick Bratley said: “Every year we say it's our bogey track. Myself and Trevor Swales said to each other years ago that we would surely win here once during our lifetime, but I'm getting worried because we aren't getting any younger!

“If we collectively click together we can cause an upset. To be honest, I would be more than happy with a point, something no other club this season has thus far achieved.”

Owner Rick Frost said: “This I feel will probably our hardest away meeting but saying that doesn't mean we can't win. All the team will have to dig deep and gate well and if they do we may just pull off the surprise we want. I certainly don't expect to come away with nothing.”
