PETERBOROUGH Panthers complete their Elite League campaign tonight with a trip to Monmore Green.

The visitors will be hoping for better weather than the last occasion in June when a monsoon type pre-meeting downpour called the meeting off shortly before it was due to start.

Although no one has so far taken a point from matches at Wolverhampton this year, the Panthers do track several riders that rate the track highly, while some have good experience of the tight turns having ridden for the Wolves in previous years.

The Wolves have enjoyed much success this year and presently are going head to head with Swindon to finish top of the league table prior to the play-offs.

It's clearly a big ask for anyone to go there and run them close but Ipswich did it last week and that's the only time this year that Wolves haven't topped the 50 point mark.

The midlands side boast an impressive top five led by Fredrik Lindgren and Peter Karlsson and have the immensely talented Tai Woffinden currently holding down the third heat leader spot.

Panthers cause isn't helped by the latest news that Claus Vissing was sidelined during the second leg of the Danish Final last night, early reports suggest he may have a collarbone injury, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Kenneth Hansen however will be available on this occasion (he would have missed the rained off fixture) and will have Ales Dryml at reserve on a track he rode last year with not inconsiderable success.

Team captain Niels Kristian Iversen said: “We have to up our game 200% for this match, I rode their last year and its my favourite track in England and I am looking forward to going and doing the business, Kenneth (Bjerre) generally does well there, Kenneth Hansen used to ride there and Ales also rode with me at Wolverhampton last year as well, we have to do better and I will be putting in the effort to make it happen.”

Promoter Mick Bratley said: “On current form this is going to be difficult, Wolves are riding the crest of wave, we are meanwhile riding like juniors. However, I strangely fancy our chances of turning in a decent performance at Monmore Green.

“It has been a fairly good hunting ground for us in recent seasons and a few of our guys go really well around the place. We could surprise people here.”

Owner Rick Frost said: “This will clearly be a tough meeting but we will give it our best shot and we just might surprise them.”
