TAYLOR Poole, 17-year-old son of former Peterborough star Mick Poole, made an immediate impression for Mildenhall on Sunday.

TAYLOR Poole, 17-year-old son of former Peterborough star Mick Poole, made an immediate impression for Mildenhall on Sunday.

Starring in the Tigers 57-35 victory, Poole, who is recovering from a broken foot, looked another great Aussie prospect, with Fen Tigers boss John Adams admitting the likes of Poole will hopefully feature high next season in his club's plans.

"We have had Taylor watched for a few weeks now" said Tigers team boss Adams.

"He has excellent equipment and comes highly recommended having impressed in some spins at Peterborough and Coventry. I want to finish the season strongly and I have one eye on next season with the youthful riders we are bringing in as we want to win some silverware. We now have seven very young and hungry riders in a side that is full of panache and I'm sure will excite the fans. We now have the heat leader strength we wanted and Oliver (Rayson) has coped with the No 2 berth admirably. Nick (Laurence) has done a sterling job since coming in and Joe (Jacobs) will now have to move into the main body of the team, which he is relishing. It is an invaluable opportunity to gain more experience."

Taylor expects to fly back to Australia at the end of September.

The rider to make way is Dean Felton, who Adams revealed had spent £2,000 on new equipment recently. The 40 year old, riding in his final season in the sport, had struggled to perform to his best.

Mildenhall signed off their home league campaign in superb fashion with a devastating 57-35 defeat of league leaders Weymouth. Poole completed a fine debut with a couple of excellent blasts from the back, while James Birkinshaw and Barrie Evans were in equally impressive form, with West Row buzzing from the win ahead of the Trophy fixtures.
