MILDENHALL Funky Catering Fen Tigers claimed the maximum three league points on offer as they beat local rivals from King's Lynn 49-40 to move in to second place in the National League.

Another healthy crowd basked in the sun baked West Row circuit as the Suffolk outfit stormed in to an early lead with a 5 - 1 courtesy of skipper David Mason and teenager Oliver Rayson who had an excellent meeting his first after being promoted in to the No.2 race jacket

The meeting however was marred by two crashes in successive heats with new Mildenhall signing Darren Smith sliding off in heat 2 and injuring his knee but worse to come in the next was his brother Jamie who fell in a routine looking first bend crash but he had to be treated for an hour by the onsite track medics before being transferred to the local hospital where he is undergoing further tests.

When the meeting restarted the two now six men sides served up a very entertaining fixture where Fen Tigers other new signing Luke Priest rattled off three straight wins on his way to an impressive 11 point total, for the Barracudas reserve Scott Campos had probably his best meeting ever as he banged in a 16 point haul from 7 rides.

Mildenhall return to action again this Sunday when they revert back to the normal 4pm start as they entertain the Weymouth Wildcats who come to West Row with three former Fen Tigers in James Cockle, Lee Smart and Matt Wright which again will be a tough test for the Fenmen.
