MILDENHALL Funky Catering Fen Tigers once again disappointed on their travels as they went down to a heavy defeat 58-37 at Buxton in deepest Derbyshire.

Once again it was Barrie Evans and the recently recruited Luke Priest leading the fight for the men from Suffolk but it was all too avail as the Hitmen romped home to a convincing win.

However the rider that is causing the most concern is skipper David Mason who could not even trouble the scorers in his three rides and was replaced in his final ride by reserve Joe Jacobs.

Team manager John Adams said: “We always go to all of our matches to win and this result was not good but I think that Buxton will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season and watching their performance yesterday it will take a very good team to beat them at home.”

Adams though is well aware of his team's frailty away from West Row. He added: “The last thing we want to do is let the fans down when they travel so far to support us and we have to improve.”

Mildenhall return to more familiar surroundings when the entertain the Newport Hornets in a National League match this Sunday (June, 21) which is sure to be another cracker of a meeting.

Buxton Hitmen 58: (Lee Smethills 9, Danny Hodgson 7+3, Jade Mudgway 10+2, Gary Isherwoon 8+2, Scott James 9, Craig Cook 11+1, Lewis Dallaway 4+1).

Mildenhall Fen Tigers 37: (Barry Evans 11, Oliver Rayson 3, David Mason 0, Dean Felton 6, Luke Priest 12+1, Darren Smith 1+1, Joe Jacobs 4+1).
