Lynn powered five points clear at the head of the Premier Trophy South section with a cross-border smash and grab.

Aussie teenager Darcy Ward notched a paid 20 haul for the second time on the road this season to underline Lynn's supremacy.

The Stars' reeled off three maximums in the opening five races to stun a sizeable crowd minus Rob Lyon who was on Team GB duty at the British U21 Final.

Lynn's second string sparkled again with Chris Schramm (paid 14) and Emiliano Sanchez (paid 12) both in double figures at Normanby Road.

Former Elite League racer David Howe (paid 15) set a new track record in the opener to top score for the hosts.

Lynn asset Simon Lambert was a huge loss for the Scorpions as the Boston youngster chased individual glory at Lakeside.

Howe flew from trap one to post a sub-56 second tour in the first heat but Tomas Topinka and Jan Graversen double teamed Carl Wilkinson to square the points.

Ward cruised to the reserves after Byron Bekker stalled on the start line with Graversen cashing in to nullify Jerran Hart on a swift renewal for the Dane.

Schramm gated to the next although Wilkinson reeled in Christian Henry exiting turn three to split the Stars' duo.

Bekker's mechanical curse struck again in heat four behind the ever impressive Aussie/Argentine axis of Ward and Sanchez.

Victor Bergstrom smothered Ward in the next but the 16-year-old showed his class to pull away in the closing laps to chase down Topinka and move Lynn 14 clear after five.

Howe exited the pits in the black and white helmet to anchor a much-needed 7-1 tactical raid for the outgunned hosts.

Wilkinson pounced on Graversen's momentary lapse to dive inside down the back straight but Sanchez was only inches from over hauling Howe on the line.

Magnus Karlsson repelled Henry in a feisty tussle for the minor spots behind Schramm before Ward and Sanchez served up a mid-meeting encore.

The South American re-emerged to down Hart and Bergstrom with a classy top bend pass in heat nine.

Howe fended off Ward's ferocious assault in the next after the Aussie had replaced compatriot Henry excluded under two minutes.

Topinka lined up Karlsson before cutting back inside to chase home Ward to quell faint home hopes of a second half fightback.

Bergstrom provided some temporary relief with a Scorpions' maximum before Karlsson turned the tables on Topinka to edge another Scunthorpe heat advantage.

Schramm wrecked any damage limitation exercise to land a power-packed penultimate tour alongside Ward.

The former Ipswich racer then inflicted Howe's solitary defeat of the night to maintain Lynn's impressive record of picking up points in every Premier Trophy away fixture.

Scorpions: Howe 15, Wilkinson 6, Bergstrom 5+1, Karlsson 6+1, Hart 6+1, Bekker 0.

Stars: Topinka 7+1, Henry 3, Schramm 14, Sanchez 10+2, Graversen 3+2, Ward 17+3.
