Bartosz Bialkowski insists promotion-chasing Ipswich Town are a match for any team in the country and has quashed thoughts of a Blues blip.

Two disappointing televised defeats in four days, at home to promotion rivals Derby County and in the FA Cup, against Southampton, have stalled the team’s momentum slightly.

The games saw Town fail to reach the performance levels of previous weeks, following an outstanding run that saw Mick McCarthy’s men embark on a run of just one loss in 20 league games, prior to the original Cup draw at St Mary’s.

Town’s next four games, starting at struggling Millwall tomorrow, are all against teams in the bottom six of the Championship and, on paper, should present the perfect opportunity for the Blues to mount another impressive run.

However, third-bottom Millwall will be smarting after being humbled 4-0 at League One Bradford City in the FA Cup Third Round on Wednesday and will be desperate to improve their home record – the joint-worst in the division – and move away from trouble.

Bialkowski expects the Lions will try and inflict a nasty bite, but believes the Blues can tame their threat.

“Millwall will be fighting for their lives and we will have to be 100% on it,” said Bialkowski.

“They need to bounce back from their recent form but we are third in the league and I am sure we will bounce back.

“We showed last time when we lost a game, we went on an unbelievable run.

“I don’t think it is a blip. We lost against Derby who are one of the main contenders to go up and then to Southampton who are third in the Premier League.

“We have shown we can compete with any team in England, even a team that is flying and we will now be concentrating on trying to win promotion.”

Tomorrow’s opponents have recorded just one league win in 11 games and only Fulham and Huddersfield have conceded more goals in the Championship this season.
