New Ipswich Town striker Brett Pitman admits he will always call Bournemouth home after leaving the Premier League new-boys for Suffolk.

Pitman scored 102 goals for the Cherries in 301 games, over two permanent spells, that included three promotions with the south coast club, including May’s elevation to the Premier League.

However, Pitman elected to move on, as part of the deal that took Tyrone Mings to the Goldsands Stadium, as he had learnt his chances would be restricted in the top flight.

“Three promotions is a feat that I’m proud of, I would have loved to have played in the Premier League in order to have played in all four divisions, but you can’t let little milestones affect your decisions,” said the former Bristol City man.

“I’m sad to go but I will always look out for the club’s results and class it as my home.

“There was no pressure on me to go or stay, but he (Howe) explained it would be difficult for me to get a lot of game time.

“Ultimately, I want to play and that’s what swayed my decision.”
