Former Ipswich midfielder Tommy Miller could end the season on a bittersweet note on Sunday.
The FC Halifax player-assistant, plays at Wembley as the relegated National League Premier side face promoted Grimsby Town in the FA Trophy final.
“The league ended in a disappointing way, but had we not hit the post in the 92nd minute (1-1 draw with Macclesfield), we would have stayed up.
“The league was the priority but that’s gone now and the FA Trophy is a bonus.
“If we win, I am sure the lads will return as heroes.”
Miller, who played 214 games for Town over two spells, is now 37, and said: “I’m still registered as a player and we’ll see what happens in the summer. I’ve not offically hung my boots up.”
