Colchester United’s leading marksman, Luke Norris, has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two player-of-the-month for September.

Norris has already netted seven goals in nine appearances this term, including five in six games last month.

The 25-year-old ex-Swindon Town front-runner, who is a doubt for the U’s home match against Yeovil Town tonight, due to a sore ankle, also weighed in with two assists for team-mates during a productive September.

- Norris an injury doubt

Norris’ five goals last month included a superb 30-yard free-kick in a 3-1 win at Cheltenham.

Also nominated for the League Two player-of-the-month award are Lincoln City’s centre-half Jason Shackell (just three goals conceded by the Imps in five games), Oldham striker Sam Surridge (scored five goals in four matches) and Exeter City full-back Pierce Sweeney (scored three goals and defended well). The winner will be announced on Friday.
