Dersingham Rovers set up arguably the biggest game in the club’s history by winning 4-0 at Loddon on Saturday.
The Anglian Combination Premier Division outfit will travel to Wroxham - who play at Step Four of the non-league ladder, three levels higher than Rovers, in the Norfolk Senior Cup fourth round after their replay triumph.
Dersingham, managed by last season’s joint-managing Junior Cup winner Robbie Back, made up for the previous weekend’s missed chances by scoring three first-half goals to all but secure the victory.
Chris Jenkins struck a brace before man of the match Paul English netted a penalty. And Rovers’ set up their dream clash for certain when Alex Scott slotted home in the second half.
It was a good Saturday for Thurlow Nunn First Division duo Swaffham Town and Downham Town. They both found the net four times in resounding wins.
Downham thumped Debenham LC 4-1 at home, thanks in large to a fine display from hat-trick hero and JD Cooling System man of the match Luke Plumb. They found the night again through an own goal.
Town assistant Pete Brassett said: “It was the best all-round performance since I’ve been at the club. The way we kept the ball was pleasing and our discipline was superb. They had six players booked and a man sent off for a disgusting tackle.”
Swaffham ended their mini-slump with a 4-0 win at Cornard. Debutant Neil Goodbourn scored, as did Dean Miller, Alex Vincent and Jack Redhead.
Boss Paul Hunt said: “If we’d have got a goal for every one we hit over the bar it could have been a much bigger win. We played some nice stuff, we just need to be more ruthless. That said, it was good to win and after our mini injury crisis the squad’s starting to look healthier again.”
Downham host Newmarket while Swaffham welcome Team Bury in Saturday’s Division One Knockout Cup first round.
Elsewhere, Premier Division Wisbech - who drew 2-2 at home to CRC at the weekend thanks to Dubi Ogbonna’s brace, despite being reduced to nine men - visit Felixstowe. Lynn Reserves travel to Stamford Belvedere in Peterborough Division One.
