The Humber Doucy Lane club travel to Cornard tomorrow for their third Ridgeons League First Division fixture of the season and will be looking to keep their unbeaten start going.

Victories at Swaffham and Gorleston have buoyed the side, coupled with a superb new playing surface, new players and great team spirit – a mixture manager Steve Buckle is hoping can take Wanderers back into the Premier Division.

“We have six or seven players who could walk into most Premier Division sides,” Buckle said.

“Don’t get me wrong, we don’t suddenly have a huge budget, although I have a bigger budget than last season. But our pitch, kindly laid for us by Alan Ferguson at Ipswich Town, is simply superb.

“It’s been a great start to the season and I’m looking forward to our next three league games, at Cornard and at home to Fakenham and Downham, and let’s see after that how we are doing.

“With only 32 league games, it’s important to get a good start to the season.”

Wanderers don’t lack quality this season that’s for sure, with Danny Phillips, Marc Lowe, Liam Manning, Mark Bailey and Darius Laws among a decent squad of players.

It’s all been good for team spirit and Buckle hopes the fans will start to come to Humber Doucy Lane, when they play their first clash on the new turf on September 11.

“We’ve had a couple of fun coach journeys so far this season,” Buckle added.

“The team spirit is great and I hope the fans come to watch us play. A good crowd backing is always key.”
