Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds have been named as the new management team at AFC Sudbury.
The announcement was made on the club’s website around 4.30pm today after the pair’s old club Kirkley and Pakefield posted on its website yesterday they were leaving the club.
They replace David Batch who left Sudbury at the end of December to join St Neots Town.
The statement on AFC Sudbury’s website, from chairman Phil Turner, read: “The club are pleased to announce Jamie Godbold and his assistant Andy Reynolds have been appointed to take charge of the first team. Jamie and Andy come to the club highly recommended by (former caretaker boss) Danny Laws.
“Danny Laws has been appointed as Director of Football and Youth Development. His responsibilities will include working with the newly appointed first team management team and directing and developing the under 21 and under 18 teams.
“In addition Danny will be taking an active role in assisting with the operation of our youth development and will lead our new football academy being launched this year.
“Jamie will be responsible for all first team matters but will be mentored and will work closely with Danny Laws.
“I see Jamie’s appointment as a great boost for the club and puts together the last piece of an all round management team jigsaw that will take the club forward for a sustainable future with much more emphasis on developing our own players.”
“I would also like to apologise that this news has been leaked on social media before the club was in a position to make an announcement.”
Godbold was at Stoke City for six years and later became a respected member of Lowestoft Town.
He is a UEFA A Licence coach and is also the region’s FA Regional Coach Development Manager.
Reynolds is also the Suffolk under 18’s manager.
