Ipswich Wanderers reserves are moving out of the Thurlow Nunn Reserve League and seeking a move to the Touchline Suffolk & Ipswich League.

The club have already handed in their withdrawal from the Reserve League and will exit when the season finishes in April.

Wanderers are now seeking a move to the SIL, with the club also looking to pitch share.

The main reason behind this decision is financial, as development officer Roger Wosahlo explains: “Financially, it was getting too much.

“And by that I mean providing hospitality, maintaining the pitch, and travelling costs – it was all too much for us.”

Wanderers are yet to hand their application into the SIL but when they do, their request is likely to be heard in May, although as things stand, Wanderers have no guarantee of being accepted, or if they are, no idea what division they will be placed in if successful.

As things stand, the SIL has seven divisions as well as two reserve leagues – Intermediate B, and Intermediate A.

It is not yet known which division Wanderers will be placed in if they are to be successful – but it will be more than likely Division Four, as Barham Athletic, a side who transferred from the Bury League at the start of this season, were placed straight into the SIL’s fifth tier.

From withdrawing from the Reserve League, Wanderers now have an opportunity to let their pitch out and are welcoming any interested SIL parties to get in touch.

“Obviously, the first-team will play every week but we’d like to alternate sharing the main pitch with a Senior SIL club next season,” declared Wosahlo.

“Some SIL clubs have great facilities but probably nothing like we have here.

“We have stands, we have seats and we’re continuing looking to improve our facility.”

Anybody interested in pitch-sharing with Wanderers next year, whose first-team could be in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division following their promotion push, should contact Wosahlo on either 07725 212011 or 01473 730479.

Wanderers are also looking to hire their pitch out between now and the end of the season, with plenty of spaces for midweek fixtures available.

Today, Wanderers reserves host Gorleston reserves at the Doucy, while the first-team travel to March Town United.

Promotion rivals Whitton United travel to Halstead Town in a top-of-the-table clash.

Fellow First Division outfit Debenham visit Downham while Stowmarket host Fakenham.

In the Thurlow Nunn Premier, leaders Hadleigh visit Kirkley & Pakefield looking to bounce back from their recent dip in form, while Felixstowe & Walton visit Thetford Town.

Brantham Athletic could do their Suffolk rivals a huge favour in the race for the title with a home win against Godmanchester Rovers, who still have a shot at the title.
