FORMER Felixstowe & Walton United manager Paul Adams has recently been diagnosed with cancer.

He had an operation at Addenbrooke’s Hospital last week prior to surgery at Ipswich Hospital for the insertion of stabilisation rods and removal of part of the tumour from his spine.

He is currently having further tests before commencing a course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy early in the New Year.

Adams, who was an apprentice with Ipswich Town, said he was very positive about the future and looking forward to Christmas with his family.

The Scotsman, who had two spells as manager of the Seasiders, said surgery had gone well and he is up and about although not exactly running around.

He thanked all those who had asked about him and for the kind words he had received from people.

  • Good luck to you Paul, hope all goes well, a true gentleman in local football and one of the "old school". Never got the credit he deserved for achieving a lot on virtually zero budget. How well he would do today with the amount of money flying around in local football currently. I speak for many, not just the SIL, but local soccer in general.
