BRANTHAM Athletic’s FA Vase fourth round proper tie at home to Whitley Bay is ON this afternoon.
The match is one of the few involving Suffolk and Essex sides to go ahead today.
Although the pitch is wet and expected to be heavy, club officials confirmed this morning that the tie at Brantham Leisure Centre, kick-off 3pm, has beaten the recent bout of bad weather.
A large crowd is expected to see the tie against the four-time FA Vase winners from the north east.
Today’s three other ties involving Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division sides - AFC Emley v Hadleigh United, Gornal Athletic v Wisbech Town and Ely City v Spalding United - have all been postponed.
In the Ryman League Premier Division, Lowestoft Town were left frustrated after their attempts to get their match at home to Cray Wanderers on went unrewarded following an early morning pitch inspection at Crown Meadow.
Leiston’s match at Hampton & Richmond Borough goes ahead, but Bury Town’s match at home to Concord Rangers was still in the balance mid-morning, after the club appealed for volunteers to help clear snow off the Ram Meadow pitch.
In Ryman League Division One North AFC Sudbury’s match at Romford and the Tilbury v Heybridge Swifts match were called off today following pitch inspections.
All matches in the Thurlow Nunn League are off and just one fixture - the Senior Division match between Coplestonians and Wickham Market - has survived in the entire Touchline SIL programme.
