Suffolk Senior Cup holders Achilles continued their title defence with a 6-1 home win over Felixstowe Harpers.
In the 35th minute Danny Garrad kicked off his hat-trick for Achilles from 25 yards. The keeper could only watch as the ball sailed into the top corner.
Then David Grimwood was tripped and the referee awarded a penalty from which Garrad secured his second goal.
Felixstowe were reduced to 10 men at the start of the second half when Matty Easton was dismissed. In the next minute Lee Grimwood increased Achilles’ lead.
Then a Felixstowe free kick which hit the bar was answered with Garrad’s third goal – a result of good work down the left.
Grimwood then scored Achilles’ fifth, which was followed by a slip in the home defence, allowing Webb to score the only goal for Felixstowe.
In the 85th minute, Achilles’ talisman Liam Hillyard was substituted on, and after some good saves from the Felixstowe goalkeeper, he managed to secure the sixth goal and a place in the semi final.
Meanwhile, in the SIL Senior Division, Capel Plough won 1-0 at Haughley United in a game played in atrocious conditions.
The first half saw little constructive football with chances few and far between as the players battled against the wind and rain. After the break the visitors played a lot better with Jackson twice going close before Page headed against the post.
The breakthrough came after 65 minutes when Andy Wilshaw slotted home from close range following a cross from Jackson.
And Coplestonians enjoyed a huge win at Grundisburgh, thrashing them 6-0.
The first goal came when Will Davies headed home Michael Velzian’s free-kick and was soon followed by his second goal when he received a pass from Perrie Soanes, beat his marker and fired home.
Cops scored again when Chas Thorpe pounced to convert Tim Street’s corner and this was soon followed by a superb individual goal from Keiran Driver who curled in a shot from distance.
Brandon King bagged a brace to finish the rout.
