We are no ordinary team.
So insists Ipswich Town’s man-of-the-moment, Lee Martin, a member of the ‘Fab Four’ who have been bemusing the opposition over the last three weeks.
Livewire Martin, together with striker Michael Chopra and wide men Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Daryl Murphy, have given Town a new attacking flair. The result has been four wins on the trot.
“We are not a basic team,” enthused Martin, who bagged a brace in Town’s 3-0 win over Cardiff on Saturday.
“Sometimes we have players who are impossible to mark and difficult to defend against, especially when JET picks up the ball and Chops is there to poach goals. There’s a balance, but it’s also off the cuff. We have that attacking threat.
“Sometimes the four that go out there click. We are all slightly different players, and I think that helps. Everyone helps each other.
“I think Chops coming back to form is a big, big part for us. He is a goalscorer and when the chips are down he can get a goal out of nothing, as you saw against Cardiff.
“(Daryl) Murphy is a natural centre-forward, but playing out there (on the left) he is better than anyone.”
Martin has relished running at defenders, in a new central role that has revitalised his Ipswich career. He has scored four goals in his last seven outings.
And the ex-Manchester United trainee is also quick to highlight the role of fellow elusive attacker, Emmanuel-Thomas.
“JET has always had the ability,” insisted Martin.
“I know he has had a lot of stick, but he’s got more ability than most other players in the Championship.
“He’s only 21, and that’s what people forget. He’s playing exceptionally well. He’s got more of an attacking threat, because of the way we are now playing, rather than relying on the 4-4-2 where you have to defend more.
“He has the chance to cut in and get his shots off, and he is a match winner on any day. This front four is so fluid,” added Martin.
Town will be bidding for a fifth victory on the spin at Brighton this Saturday.

Doesn't matter how the current team was put together, good luck, injuries, mistakes, whatever, it picks itself now and PJ is not a fool, he will see to it that their keenness and skills are allowed full flow. If he's made mistakes he will undoubtedly have learnt from them. Keep it up and 2-1 minimum to us against Poyet's lot.

Ok, they are doing well so how come this couldnt have happened way back in August? Seems to me that this miracle has happened purely by chance and not in any way is it down to good management. I guess that management have been too busy planning that final push for play off position.
