TAMAS Priskin, after a year of torment, is finally finding his feet at Ipswich Town.

And the Hungarian sharp-shooter admitted that Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Bristol City, during which he scored the first and created the second, was his “best game” in a Town shirt.

A rejuvenated Priskin, who is beginning to brim with confidence, a trait that was sadly lacking throughout last term, notched his first goal at Portman Road by making the most of a terrible mix-up between England keeper David James and City skipper Fontaine.

Priskin’s 58th minute opener was followed up by Jason Scotland’s 74th minute goal, on his home debut, after the hapless James had failed to hold onto Priskin’s low drive.

“Yes, maybe today was my best game in an Ipswich shirt. I scored my first home goal, so I am very pleased,” enthused Priskin.

“But I think the team did very well, especially in the second half when we scored two goals.

“I started in the first half on the left, but in the second half I went in the middle to play as a striker. It couldn’t have gone better. I scored a goal, Jason scored a great goal as well, and we won the game,” added a satisfied Priskin.

Before he was whisked away, to catch a flight to his native Hungry to prepare for two European Championship qualifying fixtures, Priskin explained why he was finding life easier at the start of this season, as opposed to last campaign when he only scored one league goal for Town.

The 23-year-old already has two for the season, after also netting on the opening day in the 3-1 win at Middlesbrough.

“This year I have been here since the start of pre-season, and had a few games with the team as well in pre-season,” said Priskin.

“So it’s been a bit easier for me, and I’ve had a few chances. I’ve started in the team and hopefully I can stay there.

“We have had a good start to the season. The first game was a very, very hard game, that was a good win. Now after four games we’ve got 10 points, and hopefully we can continue like this.

“Last season it was a bit harder, because we didn’t get the first win until after 15 games. Now we’ve got the confidence and the spirit is very good in the team.”

Town are now third in the table, level on points with leaders QPR and Cardiff City. They have a two-week break for internationals, before returning to action with a game at Portsmouth on September 11.
