ROY Keane is hoping to bring in a loan player next week to bolster his threadbare squad.

The Irishman is looking forward to some of his injured players returning over the next week or two, but he recognises that he still needs some fresh blood.

“There’s a good chance that I will add one player to the squad next week,” confirmed Keane.

“We are in discussions with a club at the moment. It’s all very positive at the moment. I’m talking about a Premier League club.”

However, none of Keane’s injured group will be available for Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth.

Damien Delaney and Luciano Civelli both played for the Reserves on Wednesday, but neither will be involved at Fratton Park in their respective comebacks from leg and knee injuries.

Connor Wickham returned to training on Monday, from his long-term ankle problem, while Mark Kennedy might play for the Reserves next week after injuring his hamstring on the opening day of the season at Middlesbrough.
