PAUL Jewell has not given up on signing Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu.
Gers’ boss Ally McCoist revealed that Town have submitted a formal bid for the 26-year-old with Edu now weighing up the offer.
McCoist said: ““As far as I know, there has been an offer on the table from Ipswich which, as yet, he hasn’t accepted.
“He trained this morning. I’m just hopeful something can be resolved sooner rather than later.”
Jewell is still looking to sign three new players – and will want to deliver good news to the Town faithful after top target Steve Davies signed for Bristol City today.

Would be a very good signing for us. RS yet again talking drivel. A quick look at some of the Rangers message boards show that they are happy with his attitude as, far from what you say, they respect that he has transferred his contract in order to allow them to get a fee rather than those who left on a free.

@whymarkmariner. His worth is actually £625m. A £5m kitty doesn't mean you can spend £5m. The wages have to come from that fund also. With our yearly losses we can't throw money around like we have in recent years thanks to the financial fair play rules. I don't understand why people are not getting this.

I think people need to stop considering ME as someone that will be a benefactor for the club. He isn't going to give the club cash. He doesn't love the team like we do, all the cash he puts in is with the intent to make more out of us in the long term. Some make a big point over the money being paid back when we hit them Prem. If that ever happens, and we do have to repay, doesn't that just mean am immediate return to the Champ with no money to build? ME is building a bloodbank of debt to suck out of ITFC if we are ever successful again- ie. after Jewell has long gone.

Like I have said time and again you get what you pay for. pay peanuts and guess what, you get monkeys. Before too long players like Lee Martin will get fed up and move to a club with more ambition. We get all this rubbish about the club being ambitious but they don't put the proverbial "Money where their mouth is" The more you weigh this up you can see similarities to the Glaziers at Man Utd, An owner who is reportedly worth £236 million. Surely a £5 million kitty wouldn't make a dent in it. But even then it would need spending wisely. We can only dream.

Keith Matthews - I have to agree, Bristol City have signed Davies after much deliberation from Jewell and Clegg. Bottom line is, that a much smaller club with not so much financial backing but perhaps much more ambition have obtained his signature. A lot of the so called smaller clubs are pushing us down the pecking order with their willingness to take a chance. Mr Evan's surely can not say that he got where he is today by not taking chances, sometimes you have to. I think that Edu will also slip through the net, probably end up going to Peterborough.

Wierd... the club is weighed down with average midfielders signed by Jewell - and he wants another one. Worryingly this mercenary is happy to stick with Rangers and take easy money in pub league standard of football..... just the sort of idiotic signing Jewell has reputedly lost his blinkers about.

this will go the same way as our other targets.. he will sign for some other club!!!..while i agree we should not pay silly money, ME&SC are not paying the going rate..hence why we are being out muscled by teams with smaller attendances

What a signing if we could get him. Top class player. Not too fussed about Davies, an injury prone striker is the lasty thing we need.
