HULL City have gazumped Ipswich Town to the signing of Eldin Jakupovic.

The one-cap Swiss international started a one-week trial with Ipswich on Thursday.

But Hull have today announced the signing of the 27-year-old stopper on a two-year deal with the keeper joining up with his new team mates on their pre-season training base in Portugal.

As Jewell continues to struggle to nail down a potential number one for next season, Hull have also signed Manchester United keeper Ben Amos on a season-long loan.

While the Amos and Town links have only been speculation, the 22-year-old seems like someone Jewell might have looked at if he went into the loan market to secure a new keeper.

Both clubs have been fishing in the same waters this summer with Steve Bruce, like Jewell, linked with moves for Tomasz Kuszczak and Brad Guzan who have joined Brighton and rejoined Aston Villa respectively.

  • Could always go back for Neill Alexander. Still a good keeper and looking for a club

  • Cyril - Sorry to butt in but if Jewell had confidence in ALB why did he treat him so appallingly last season dropping him like a hot brick even in favour of the injury plagued over -the - hill has been Richard Wright ? You should not let your love of Jewell cloud the issue

  • Spartacus, I suggest you read the headlines of the story, NATIONAL newspaper. I did respond to Daves response but the moderator would not allow it as I suspect will happen with this entry. Cyril

  • I still think it was a very poor decision to not only release two goalkeepers, but to make it clear to the one remaining keeper that you don't rate him, prior to having a number one for the new season. In a nutshell, why I don't think Jewell is up to the task.

  • This could only happen at ITFC !! A player comes on trial and immediately signs for another club - This is embarrassing, pathetic, laughable and certainly no way to run a football club...Evans, Clegg and the puppet Jewell are turning this once proud club into a laughing stock....Perhaps Jewell should give up trying to sign anybody, get down the academy and set his stall out to use what he has already got. Perhaps it's time he started to use his much talked about "managerial" skills and not rely quite so much on his dubious transfer dealings....or is that expecting too much

  • Brian Betts - I'd take Sereni or Fulop as our #1 any day of the week?! If he was half as decent as either of them I'd disappointed we missed him.

  • Cyril Baker getting facts wrong... *shocker*. Regardless, I personally prefer a British keeper- I get undettled by the punching, rather than catching, element. Either way, Chambers is a good signing, but 53 days left to decide Jewells future....

  • WatInteresting, I tackled Dave Gooderham regarding his claim that this story was in the Daily Mail, he says it was the Hull Daily Mail ????? [Actually I made it perfectly clear that the Jakupovic rumour was from the Daily Mail and the Ben Amos piece was from the Hull Daily Mail– DG]

  • At some point logic must become part of this equation. If part of the perceived issue for some players is the move to Suffolk, then look at Ben Williams down the road at Colchester who apparrently has already stated that he would like to stay in the area. Then we have the saga that is Richard Wright who I read has quit Preston through homesickness. So, how about a pay as you play deal? That we way he has an incentive to remain fit and challenge for the number one spot.

  • From the evidence of a poor quality earlier video, it is perhaps just as well if he does sign for Hull City. Typical average continental keeper who cannot catch but would rather punch the ball. Remember our previous two continental keepers, Sereni & Fulop !!!!!!!

  • OK, let's get this straight, if the guy is good, sign him up, please don't wait a month to get someone in! Also, let's just bring in George Boyd from Peterbrough who's on the transfer list! We could snap him up for a bargain!
