IPSWICH Town fan Scott Loach could be facing an uncertain future amid reports Tom Heaton is close to completing a switch to Watford.
The Watford Observer has today reported that the Hornets are set to sign Heaton – who has made no secret of the fact he left Cardiff City to pursue first team football.
What this means for Loach, or indeed Ipswich Town, remains to be seen.
The pursuit of Heaton suggests Sean Dyche is looking for a new number one leaving Loach to question his future at Vicarage Road.
Many Town fans would love to see Loach return to Portman Road with the former academy keeper admitting this week he was flattered by the links with Ipswich this summer.
But he admitted he had no contact with Paul Jewell who continues to search high and low for a new number one next season.
The Observer reports that Watford are set to beat Ipswich and Bristol City for the signature of 26-year-old Heaton but the goalkeeper himself said he has had no discussions with Town.

The thing is Cyril is that loach plays for an extremely average club that is going nowhere. He has probably fallen out of favour with the club as he eyes biggers things, the fact of the matter is that loach plays at england youth levels so he is clearly highly valued, he is also young

Loach is good enough for Watford, he just had a falling out with the manager. I don't know what the problem is here, We are crying out for a solid No.1 - Loach is the right age, he has plenty of Championship experience, he is available at the right price and most important of all he is a Town fan and would wear the shirt with pride it is the biggest no brainer in the history of football, he will probably go elsewhere though because someone else will offer him a 4 or 5 year deal whereas we seem to offer 15 minute deals. We will probably end up loaning another keeper or bring Neville Southall out of retirement !!!

Now then what’s happening here? We have had to endure stories of the Colonel’s Olympic Torch endeavours, updates on holiday whereabouts, former players looking forward to starting afresh, tales of woe at losing out on signings, but now all of a sudden we are in for some transfer action….or not have you Journo’s peeked too soon and are ‘letting the cat of the preverbal bag’ Let us know when we have real news and don’t let speculation get in the way of progress with our signings, please!!
