New Ipswich Town signing Luke Chambers.

LUKE Chambers has urged Ipswich Town fans to be patient in the search for fellow new arrivals.
The former Nottingham Forest centre-back is Paul Jewell’s second signing of the summer, but the free agent doesn’t expect to be joined by too many more new faces for a couple of weeks.
With the new season five weeks away, supporters will be hoping to see more new faces following Chambers and Elliott Hewitt as Town’s squad takes shape.
But Chambers said: “When you look at the transfer fees people are demanding and wages on top, it is difficult to get players in.
“There has not been a lot of movement in the Championship and I think that will continue for the next couple of weeks at least.
“We are not living in times we were four or five years ago. It is difficult out there and football should not be immune to that.
“The drop in money at this level is not just something that a chief executive talks about – it is a fact. It has slowly been coming down the last few years.”
That belief was backed up by chief executive Simon Clegg who maintained Town would not break the bank to land any player.
He said: “Fans want these things done instantaneous and capitulate to whatever figures are demanded but we have to operate within our budget.
“My number one priority is to safeguard the financial situation of this club. I am not going to lead us down the road of administration again.
“We also need to recognise what is happening in the wider Championship – wages and transfer fees are coming down.
“But I am excited about the season ahead. We still have further work to do and there is work in progress. We need to build but we have the basis of a really strong team.”

I think that he should learn more about what has been going on at Ipswich prior to being naive enough to have said what he has said. He is clearly entitled to his opinion, the same as anyone, yet if he had been fed the garbage we have since Evans arrived, he may feel somewhat differently about it all. I am pleased we signed you Luke, and think you are a good defender. Yet, you know nothing about the painful 5 years we have endured under Evans (come December 2012).

True Blue, perhaps you might stop to think for a minute before you post. He was asked a question, but he could have answered it any way he chose. It is rich to come to a club as a new signing and immediately start to tell the supporters how to behave and think. If you don't agree, then that's fine, but it's entirely reasonable (on a forum such as this which is aimed at people giving their opinions) to take a differnent view. I hardly think that such an opinion on a messageboard is going to threaten his future at the club, nor deter others from coming, as you strangely imply.

Does Chambers not see the irony in his pseudo-perceptive comments of "When you look at the transfer fees people are demanding and wages on top, it is difficult to get players in.". Given he no doubt pushed hard for maximum wages, to entirely suit his own interests (and I don't blame him for that), delaying the transfer for some time to no doubt secure a deal, he's PART of the problem!

Luke, you've just moved to the club, and no doubt you think you're a hot shot, but please keep your head down for a while before telling the long-suffering fans how we should feel about the club we have seen deteriorate for the last 5 years. Let your performances do your talking.

Luke Chambers is saying what is in fact reality but also what he thinks PJ & CEO Clegg want to hear but he should remember to respect those who help subsidize his wages, the fans and not 'spout off' that they have to be patient. ITFC supporters have been patient for over 5 seasons and do not require a lecture from a player who incurred the displeasure of fans at his last club. The place for Luke Chambers to do his talking is on the pitch !!!!!

Dave Gooderham - I don't believe Clegg really said "Fans want these things done instantaneous", did he? I believe he is better educated than that.
