UNDER-FIRE Paul Jewell believes Ian Holloway is a prime example of sticking with the manager.
While the pressure intensifies on Jewell’s reign at Portman Road, the Blues boss questioned the mentality of some clubs who dismiss managers too easily.
And as he prepares to face Holloway in the opposing dugout, Jewell thinks his counterpart’s treatment at former club Leicester is evidence of this.
He explained: “Ian Holloway has done a great job. We have known each other a long time and he is one of the best managers in this division and Leicester sacked him.
“Maybe if they had stayed with him a little bit longer, they wouldn’t have had to have gone through four or five managers before Nigel Pearson.”
And of the threat posed by Blackpool today, Jewell added: “Every game is difficult and every team in this league is capable of beating each other – that has been proved this season.
“Blackpool are in a rich vein of form after beating Middlesbrough 3-0. They are a good team, The Championship is full of teams who have not long been in the Premier League.”

Three unpleasant comments so far. I am sure PJ will get the message that young enthusiastic players, not without skill, are better to use than elderly players who no longer seem to care what happens to us. Yes, Kevin Phillips is elderly but boy can he score goals.

Holloway was the type of manager we should have lured to Portman Road. Somebody with passion, not one living on their past achievements, albeit tinged with as many failures. It beggars believe how small a memory some people have. Who was it who bought Chopra with baggage? Who was it who offered Ellington a contract, guy couldn’t get one anywhere else. Who was it who offered Richard Wright another contract, guys nearly as old as me? Who was it who signed that dud Icelander and then agreed to pay him off? Who was it who took the manager of Walsall "Biffo the Bear" as the 1st team coach whilst they were sitting 5 points adrift at the bottom of the football league? I'm sorry; I’m really struggling here to find one redeeming feature of PJ's tenure. For that reason and that reason alone he should hear those immortal words: “YOU’RE FIRED” You can’t argue with the facts – nice guy or not.

Yes but Holloway has not had £millions to spend on new players when getting relegated, like you did jewell before the season started. So theres no comparison at all and jewell has been the flop of all time even worse than keane. Add to it all, Holloway has football knowledge and nous, so unlike the inept jewell.

I am starting to agree with Jewell. If we had of stuck with Magilton another 6 months we might not have had to suffer Keane and Jewell.
