JASON Scotland has insisted his second half equaliser in this afternoon’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace was the least Ipswich Town deserved.

The Blues striker hit a cracker to earn Ipswich a point on their travels after Town had gone in at the break one down following Chris Martin’s opener.

But Scotland said: “I thought we deserved the three points. We started off well for the first half an hour with a few shots on target. We were disappointed to go in 1-0 down.

“I think we dominated the first and second half but that is how the game goes. We haven’t played well in the second half recently but credit the boys – we did well to come back.”

Scotland scored his eight of the season when he cut inside Palace right-back Nathaniel Clyne and hit a fantastic strike with his right foot.

He explained: “Having a shot wasn’t on my mind when I got the ball but the guy (Clyne) cut off the line and showed me the inside so that’s what I did.

“I came inside and no one confronted me so I thought why not have a shot? It was on my right foot, I just went for goal, it was a good strike and it went in.”

  • It was the winner in a 3-2 against Leeds, and was at Filbert Street. I heard loads of moans about Woodsy, as he was a bit of an opinion divider, as some liked him, some preferred Lambert, and thought of Woods as a bit of a luxury player. I thought that they were both good, just had different styles of play. If JET sorts out his mind, he could be awesome at Championship level. I guess we will know, when we see what shape he returns in after this summer, and if I were picking the team, I would certainly have him in it currently, without any doubt at all

  • Never heard any adverse comments about Clive Woods, IAS, and I don't think Jet in his present mood is anywhere near him. It's all a long time ago now isn't it but I do remember that brilliant Cup replay game goal he scored to see us through the round, played at the Leicester ground at if I remember correctly. A bit like Jason's goal on Saturday.

  • Yep, much prefer JET to Scotland- you may call it 'pussy-footing', but the same was said of Clive Woods and Chris Waddle back in the day. Regardless, the game is about opinions and I'm adult enough to accept that you, Old Timer & Kevin all have your own with, I admit, some valid reasoning (I would just prefer to pay a younger more hungry striker from the lower leagues the £6-8k pweek (or whatever it will be), rather than a player at the end of his career that hasn't yet delivered in goals. Don't think we have £3mil to spend, Kevin, although Powell is a great prospect. I'll add that I wouldn't trust JewellClegg with £3mil of ITFC money anyway.

  • John Burls.....as you have invoked me against 'I am Spartacus' I thought I should further develop my view on Scotland. I would keep him, on reduced terms, as I have said from the very, very beginning, as you will no doubt remember if you are a big fan of his. His worth, along with that of Carlos off of the pitch is significant, although I would not in any way agree with your assertion that they are our best two players. The best two players, based on current ability and performance level, as well as potential as well, would be Cresswell and Hyam. They would be the first two names on my team sheet every single week, which to my mind, defines the best two players. I would also like to see Scotland score more goals, although I could say that about Chopra too, who has missed far too many straightforward opportunities for this level of football for my liking. I would have liked to have seen us sign Le Fevre, as I also mentioned several times, although he will be in the Premiership with Reading next season. If Evans has any ambition, pay what it takes to get Nick Powell from Crewe. A Premiership release clause for a £10M fee will deal with that aspect, and he would be an outstanding signing for next season, and I reckon we could pick him up for £3M

  • Sorry I am spartacus, at the moment it's three to one against your opinion. Scotland is one of our two best players, the other being Edwards. Or do you prefer the JET pussyfooting style of play? I had great hopes for him but he hasn't matured, not this season anyway.

  • I agree that Scotlands goal ratio could be better - but feel a decent run in the side may have improved this - also as Kevin says he has been treated badly - & actually had to accept a pay cut before getting selected. I have tried to make this point more forcefully but again blocked by the moderator - BUT the basic fact remains that players bought by Jewell - ie Chopra get preferential treatment to those he inherited such as Scotland - & these in turn are positively pampered when compared to those that came through the youth system. His treatment of players is divisive & as such they will never develop the team spirit necessary for any club to be successful.

  • Terrific goal from Jason at Selhurst Park, and I would definitely have him here next season, as he is a model professional, and a good influence. If you haven't seen the goal, then please make sure that you do. On reduced terms, and as Jason has signed the waiver of his existing contract, then in my view, this also tells us a bit about him. He has also been one treated poorly by Jewell, yet has still shown dignity at difficult times.

  • Similar to Chopra, he works hard, but 18 goals in 80 appearances is a dismal return for a striker at any level. I respect your love for Scotland, John Burls, but unfortunately it isn't reflected in him doing the job he has been paid amply for.

  • Good old Jason, what a pity the manager didn't have more faith in him earlier in the season.
