IPSWICH Town manager Paul Jewell has sounded out Emile Heskey about a move to Portman Road – but a deal still remains a long way off.
Blues chief executive Simon Clegg yesterday revealed that a fourth summer signing was close to be completed, but it has emerged that Heskey – who has reportedly also interested Hull and Leicester – is not the player who is closest to joining.
A club source said: “The manager has spoken to Emile, but talks have been very much of a preliminary nature. We are aware that other clubs are interested and there is still a long way to go on that one.
“Discussions regarding another player are advanced, but until the deal is sealed the club does not wish to comment.”

I would rather sign a donkey from Barry Beach than Emile Heskey. Complete waste of space on a football pitch and would put us further back than we already are. As Victor Meldrew would say ( Please god, no )

Spartacus, you really should listen to what is being said, PJ stated he wanted a nucleous of younger players but we would still require a couple of senior players. Just try and be fair in your anxiety to attack PJ

Totally agree with the comments. Why, why, why would ITFC want to show any interest in this 'player'? I have been impressed with the 3 signings to date. Please don't spoil it Jewell & Clegg. Please..... NO!

The fact that PJ has sounded Heskey out proves that all those that have banged on about how he has learned hard lessons are completely and utterly wrong. He has learned nothing, zero, zilch and this merely proves that he will say whatever he has to to keep fans off his back - he has absolutely no idea whatsoever how to run a football club. So don't forget all those who have been sucked in by his endless BS - when Jewell says something don't necessarily believe a word of it !!!!

I will promise now, if we sign Heskey I will never watch the club again whilst Jewell is the manager. That kind of ineptitude should never be encouraged. This isn't being disloyal, this is being utterly stunned at the constant contradictions, the tactical vacuum and, if this is an example, the lack of forward thinking. We have several players over the age of 27, do we really need to add to them with a has (barely) been?

Not far enough away.......would be the worst signing in the history of the club, and that is saying something. Remember Fish?
