Paul Jewell watches his team soundly beaten at Blackpool on Saturday

IPSWICH Town manager Paul Jewell says Saturday’s 6-0 thrashing at Blackpool doesn’t alter his plans in the transfer market.
The window for permanent deals closes in little under a week’s time. And the Blues boss – who has just brought in midfielder Guirane N’Daw on a season-long loan from St Etienne – is targeting two or three more.
“If we’d have won today I’d have been saying we need players anyway,” said Jewell. “Everyone knows we’re bare.
“We’ve got N’Daw in, he’ll be a good asset for us with a bit of strength and height, but we need at least two more players to come into the squad, if not three.
“Defeat, as painful as it is, doesn’t change my thoughts about this squad.
“We are in talks with clubs about players. I’m not going to comment on individuals, but we are in talks about bringing in players, both on loan and to buy.”
With the Blues staying in the north west until their Capital One Cup clash at League One side Carlisle United tomorrow night, Jewell added: “We’re here, we got beat by six and we’ve got to deal with it.
“We can’t do anything about this game now. We can learn about it, and we will analyse, but we’ve also got to move on quickly to Tuesday.”

Ian, you may put a lot of faith in what Holloway said but you would hardly expect him to say his team had just slaughtered a tactically very poor side would you ? I really cannot condemn the players as they are being led (from behind) by an outdated manager. Or am I being too kind to call him that ?

The plan being to look at youtube and DVDs that drop through the post and then get a few more unwanted midfielders in on loan - and utterly demoralise the likes of Hyam, Carson and Smith

To lose heavily is always a big dissapointment BUT I have been quite impressed in the team that is coming together - good point on sat and great win over Watford. I still believe that PJ will do us a good job and that this team with a couple more additions could have a good season. My only real concern is Tommy Smith, who I believe is a little out of his depth. I really hope we can stay positive and put all the habitual doom and gloom to one side. I am really proud of the away support that the team gets - COYB !!!!! - 2 wins and we are back on track

His plans in the transfer market?. That's a laugh. So far all his plans in the transfer market have gone pear shape.

I am getting fed-up with many of the excuses I read about about our failures. The current batch concerning the 'youth' of our team are particularly sickening. I have had a quick look at the team that finished on Saturday compared with the team which lost to Blackpool last season. Saturday ITFC had five different players. True Bullard, Collins and Sonko have gone so their replacements had to be younger but Drury and Chambers (29 and 27) are hardly children. I accept that Loach is a couple of years younger than Stockdale but I do not attribute their differing skills levels to this. The remaining two players are a few years younger than the two they replaced but that doesn't really explain our failure. The six who played in both games are all a year older but did not play any better for it! The truth perhaps is more about what has remained unchanged: I suggest the 4-5-1 formation and our useless manager.

Brian be fair, he has had no support from the owner, if he has please tell me where. There will be no one prepared to take over with no investment. I am sorry to keep repeating myself but it takes a lot of telling some people. If you think I am wrong please put me right, over 12 million out you tell me how much in.

Defeat does not alter his plans, did he have one, or has Mr Evans not given him any funds so that he can give it to his mate Harry Redknapp when he appoints him,... You heard hear first...........Get your money on now....

Sorry Brian - I don't go with that. Read what Ian Holloway says. This was a bit of a freak result. The lad Ince was 'on fire' and was almost unplayable. I saw enough at Watford on Tuesday night to convince me that PJ is getting it right. however, this is a small squad and we DO need a couple more players. The signing of N'Daw is a good move and will add steel and experience to the defence.

"We can't do anything about this game now. We can learn about it" says Jewell Well he doesn't seemed to have learned much about the Southampton and Peterborough defeats from last season. When will he learn that ITFC is not really the club for him and that he is now 'yesterday's man' and walk away before we are engulfed in another relegation season?
