Kevin Bru has revealed a deadline day move to Ligue 1 side Toulouse fell through in the summer, but has insisted he remains committed to Ipswich despite still being free to leave the club.

The midfielder was told he was free to move on by manager Mick McCarthy at the beginning of the campaign, and was not initially given a squad number, but no move materialised and he continued to train with the first team.

Bru has now revealed he turned down the chance to move to the French second division, having received interest from a number of teams, while a deadline day switch to Ligue 1 side Toulouse fell through at the last minute.

He has since returned to the Blues first team, performing well and earning praise from McCarthy, and insists he will continue to give his all for the club despite still being open to a move in January.

“I had a few clubs come in, two offers from clubs in the second division in France but I didn’t want to go,” Bru told the club website.

“Then in the last week of the transfer window I got an offer from Toulouse. It went down to the last day but didn’t happen for some reason and I didn’t have any time left to sort another move out.

“I have one year here but there is the transfer window in January and if I have an opportunity from a club then and I want to go, then I think I will go. If not, I have six months left here and it will be the same. I will work hard and do the best I can for the team.

“I have played a few games recently and as long as I’m here, I will always do my best for Ipswich.”

Bru returned to the Blues side as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 victory at Burton last month before starting the contest at Cardiff just a few days later.

He then played an hour of the victory over Preston as a replacement for Cole Skuse, which was his 97th Ipswich appearance since joining from Levski Sofia in the summer of 2014.
