Teenage forward Jack Lankester is on Ipswich Town manager Paul Hurst’s radar as the Blues boss looks to deal with his side’s shortage of strikers.

After losing Ellis Harrison and Jon Walters to injury last week the Blues are left with just Kayden Jackson and Freddie Sears in terms of senior strikers, while Ben Folami is away with Australia Under 19s for the next month.

Lankester, who was awarded a professional contract earlier in the season, has impressed Hurst both in training and in Under 23 games with the Ipswich boss admitting he could potentially come into his thinking.

“He’s certainly been bright since I joined and every time I’ve watched him he’s done something,” Hurst said.

“It’s not always been throughout the course of the game but he’s always had moments.

“He’s scored a couple of goals, we’ve given him a professional contract and he’s got something about him that is very likeable as well as some quality on the pitch.

“He might be someone (we look to). He’ll play for the Under 23s today (at Colchester) but he’s certainly not off the radar that’s for sure.”
