Ipswich Town’s crunch home double header is almost here – so how are you feeling?

The Blues’ 60-year stay in the top two tiers of English football is under threat with just eight games to play.

Mick McCarthy admitted his team were in a relegation scrap following a 3-1 defeat at Cardiff. An international break meant fans were left with a fortnight to fester on that predicament, as well as the ill-feeling stirred up by the club’s decision to raise season ticket prices.

But is it time to park all those frustrations for a moment and get behind the team for what are two, undoubtedly, massive matches?

Town are 17th in the Championship table, five points above the drop zone, and seemingly embroiled in a seven-way fight to avoid finishing in 22nd spot.

Five of their remaining eight matches are against teams below them in the standings.

On Saturday they host Birmingham City (18th) and then, on Tuesday night, Wigan (23rd) are the visitors to Portman Road.

Birmingham, just like Ipswich, have won only two games this calender year and their decision to replace Gary Rowett with Gianfranco Zola has proved a disaster.

Wigan, who have recently lost two home games on the spin and now travel to Newcastle on Saturday, recently sacked Warren Joyce and have put coach Graham Barrow in caretaker charge.

Town’s run-in then looks like: Fulham (a), Burton (a), Newcastle (h), Rotherham (a), Sheff Weds (h) and Nottm Forest (a).
