Ipswich Town have already sold 17,000 tickets for Saturday’s clash with Aston Villa.

The Villa game is the Blues’ penultimate match at Portman Road this season, with only Middlesbrough to come on the final day, with the clash serving as the first since Bryan Klug took temporary charge following the departure of Mick McCarthy.

The club has already sold 17,000 tickets, with Villa taking their entire allocation of 2,000.

So far this season the Blues have had just five home attendances above 17,000, including the opening day of the season, the home clash with Norwich and the Boxing Day game with Queens Park Rangers, with the last being the game with Leeds in January swelled by a bumper travelling support.

All supporters under the age of 19 are able to watch the game for just £1, with those under 13 needing to be accompanied by an adult.

Villa are battling for promotion this season and look set to be involved in the play-offs, with captain John Terry playing a key role since arriving from Chelsea in the summer.

He is battling an ankle heading into this weekend’s contest, though: “We will see where John is because he’s still got a sore ankle. He wasn’t anywhere near for Leeds,” said manager Steve Bruce.

“We’ve got a week until Ipswich now but Jedinak has come in and performed well. He was easily our best player at centre-back. He was terrific at centre-back and has done really well for us.”
