The sun is out and the smiles are back.
But Paul Jewell believes it is more than just the weather that has got the people of Ipswich happy again.
The Super Blues have also had a hand in the happiness thanks to their three-match unbeaten run which has lifted Town to just a point off the top six.
Now Jewell is hoping the right result on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Portman Road – when Brighton are the visitors – can ensure the happy days are here to stay.
He said: “We have won two out of two at home which is a bit of a rarity over the last couple of seasons. You kind of feel just walking around the town that people are pleased.
“We have had some real body blows in the season so far, but at the minute we have bounced back and are playing with confidence.”
Tuesday night’s win at West Ham, which followed breaking the Sky hoodoo in the 3-0 win over Coventry and a credible point at second place Middlesbrough, have got fans excited again.
A win over the Seagulls tomorrow will lift the Blues to the cusp of the play-offs with hopes high that the recent upturn in results will bring 20,000 inside Portman Road for the first time this season.
And the good news has continued with Manchester hot prospect Reece Wabara close to agreeing a loan deal with the club – ending Jewell’s long search for competition for Carlos Edwards as right-back.
But the Town boss sounded one note of caution: “I’m still telling the fans that everything is not rosy here. We’re making progress, stay with us and over time we will get to where we want to be.”

Yes, we still have a long way to go, yet for the first time, in a very long time (since administration) we have hope. That is priceless, and will allow us all to be more patient.

If Tom reads the final paragraph he will find that Mr Jewell is saying just that.

The ludicrous and somewhat comical comments on here that greeted an away win at overated West Ham are now given a rich gloss of absurdity by this naieve tosh. Town are mid-table because they have been good in some games poor in others.... results as always, come in clusters. To see even Brighton championed as something akin to Barcelona when they are merely a 3rd division team enjoying an expectedly good start should not disguise the fact that even a mid-table team on a good run should beat them.

Yes, it is good to see signs of improvement on the pitch, but one point off the top six??? Let's try and get it right off the pitch as well (unless you have correctly predicted the weekends results)

There are promising signs, but please, let's not get carried away. The season is 46 games and there is a long, long way to go.
