While Ipswich added Mustapha Carayol and Barry Cotter to their ransk, the biggest deal of the day in the Championship involved Preston’s Jordan Hugill, with the former Blues target making the move to Premier League West Ham in a deal said to be worth £8million.

That was closely followed by Bolton’s Gary Madine, who swapped a relegation battle for a promotion fight as he moved from the Macron to Cardiff for a fee rising from £6million.
