Mick McCarthy has insisted there is no need to panic regarding goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski’s contract situation.
The Blues boss announced on January 26 that the Pole had agreed a new deal until 2020, with the option for a further year, effectively ending speculation linking him with a move to Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The contract remains unsigned, though, with McCarthy insisting the formalities will be completed soon.
“He’s going to sign that,” McCarthy said.
“There was nothing wrong with the contract but it was just getting it down, getting the agent in and sewing it up.”
Speaking in January, when revealing the news, McCarthy said: “He was under contract anyway for this season and another year but I guess when that interest came round all of us would have been interested in joining a Premier League club.
“The window is still open, he’s come and he’s said he wants to sign and I’m delighted. I’m sure the fans are.”
