Sing when we're counting

It just goes to prove what a decent cup run can do for a clubs finances. At the moment Lowestoft Town are pulling in the hoards to Crown Meadow clearly on the back of their Vase success of last season where they got all the way to Wembley. The Trawlerboys are even putting clubs two and even three leagues higher up the pyramid to shame with their current average attendances of just over 500 with an eye catching 701 present last weekend. Oh, how we all look on enviously up the East coast but surely this must make the emphasis of cup runs to the bean counters at clubs at this level and the potential ‘new’ customers it may bring. But its not just the financial income that helps, a swelling, noisy crowd also lifts the players on the pitch and again this is evident as Lowestoft currently top the table. In this difficult economic climate the Trawlerboys and girls should be commended on and off the pitch for their dedication and willingness to dig deep.

on the other hand think of the sunday clubs.. in the sunday cup a home draw for my glc utd side cost us £50 for the pitch,, 27 for the ref plus kit wash etc.. and all with an income of £3 subs per player.. a home run? no thank you? mind you a trip to leiston wanderers in the next round might cost us a coach.. unless a rich press guy from that area wants to pay and feature us ( he jokes)
