COLCHESTER United defender Marc Tierney scored the winner the last time Stockport County were in town - but the defender won't be able to repeat the feat today following his moment of madness at Oldham.
The 24-year-old left-back is suspended for tonight's League One game at the Weston Homes Community Stadium (7.45pm) following his two-booking dismissal at Boundary Park on Saturday.
The Football Association have confirmed his one game suspension - sustained after kicking the ball away for a second yellow card - comes into immediate effect.
With back-up left-back Matt Lockwood currently on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge, it means John White is likely to switch sides and Phil Ifil will come in at right-back.
Midfielder Kemi Izzet, who has been suffering with a virus for a number of weeks, came on for the last 23 minutes of the U's 2-2 draw on Saturday and could be in contention for a return to the starting line-up.
Kevin Lisbie has also been suffering will illness, but played almost an hour of Saturday's game and should pass a fitness test.
Colchester have now taken just two points from their last three league games, but host a fourth-from-bottom Stockport side currently on a five game losing streak in the league.
“It won't be easy because they're a decent side and I'm sure there will be a bit of resolution about them because of the situation they are in,” said U's boss Aidy Boothroyd, whose side are fourth from top in the table.
“We're in a learning process. They're (Colchester players) learning about me and I'm learning about them.
“This is the start of a new six game cycle of games and I think there's definitely room for improvement.
“As time goes on I think we'll get better and win more games. A good result on Tuesday night and another one on Saturday keeps us OK.”
Stockport's squad - like Colchester's - has been struggling with illness in recent weeks, however, Gary Ablett should be able to reinstate midfielders Liam Bridcutt and Carl Baker to his team tonight.
