ALEX Bruce is expected to be fit for this Saturday's home game against Swansea City.

The Ipswich Town defender injured his groin during the first half of the last home game, a dismal 4-0 defeat at the hands of leaders Newcastle United.

He was sidelined for the trips to Sheffield United and Barnsley, but is now back in contention for the visit of the Swans.

Manager Roy Keane confirmed: “Alex should be okay. He has trained all week and providing there is no change, he should be available for this weekend.”

  • Well hip hip hooray, that fills all the town fans with renewed confidence, as the defence looks so tight when he is playing doesn't it ???

  • glad to hear this he is the one rock we have at the moment and we need him to impose himself and his attitude on the team

  • oh dear thought that Mcauly and smith were just starting to gell so short of a new centre back which doesnt look immenent id rather stay with that format, Bruce in my mind has been some what lack lustre this year.

  • whilst ide agree with lady blue i feel that if he gets his game together he would be the rock we need keano needs to start using some man management skills here i know some people feel he has none but if he is going to become the manager he wants to be he needs to start upping his game to earn his keep and the respect of some of our fans

  • i see your point totally Peter, just not sure Bruce is captain material - Walters has been a good stand in, vocal, great player and likeable (so good person to lift spirits). I dont dislike Bruce just dont think he has been that sharp this year, but then has any of the defence?
